Project Overview
Project Type: High-Altitude Mining Operation Power Supply
Commissioned: 2024
Location: Potosí Region, Bolivia
Core Challenge: To provide reliable step-down power distribution in a high-altitude (1,800m) mining area, requiring specific voltage adaptation and robust performance.
Technical Solution
Supplied a customized 1000 kVA Oil-Immersed Transformer with the following key specifications and adaptations:
Primary/Secondary Voltage: 24.9 kV / 380/220 V
Winding Configuration: D-Yn5 (Delta/Wye)
High-Altitude Design: Specially engineered to mitigate the effects of lower air density at 1,800m on insulation and cooling efficiency.
Aluminum Coil Construction: Utilizing aluminum windings, offering an optimal balance of performance, cost-effectiveness, and reduced weight for transportation in challenging terrain.
Project Value
1. Reliable Operation
Ensured stable and safe power transformation for the mine's processing facilities, supporting continuous operation.
2. Cost-Effective Solution
The aluminum coil design provided a lower initial investment while meeting all technical requirements for the specific site conditions.
3. Localized Adaptation
The D-Yn5 configuration directly matched the local grid's requirements, ensuring seamless and compliant integration.
Strategic Significance
"Delivering precision-engineered, site-adapted power solutions to support critical industrial operations in the unique and demanding environments of South America."
